Participate 4 – Digital Safety and Security

Artifact: Using the information learned in this lesson, develop a digital resource which addresses the following questions.

What is the most important step we can take in terms of ensuring our digital safety?
One of the most important steps you can take is to ensure your digital security is to use strong, and secure passwords complete with special characters, upper and lower case and numbers. Using your own birthday is common but an easy password to decipher. Two-Factor Authentication is extremely effective and provides extra security as well.

What strategies can we take to help our students consistently keep digital safety in the forefront of their minds?
Students should be reminded on digital safety and given tips and tricks as often as possible. These could include using Web Tech and Common Sense Sites for resources. They should also be taught about password storage systems and how to set those up to further protect themselves.

Then reflect on the way(s) your artifact may be implemented in a learning environment.
This graphic could be implemented in a learning environment by posting it on the home page and using in a newsletter. These basic guidelines are good starting points for conversations on essential digital safety.
