Communicate 2 – Ongoing Communication

Post in your blog: Two artifacts, one for each of the identified highly effective methods of communicating with stakeholders.

Why is ongoing communication in the online classroom important? Ongoing communication with various stakeholders regarding the online classroom serves various purposes including cultivating relationships, forming alliances to benefit the students plus keep all informed about issues, events and news pertaining to the students, classroom or topics covered.

How does the newsletter differ from mandatory communications?
This communication differs from mandatory communications in that it sets a friendlier, more informal tone with stakeholders, while also establishing a sense of community and showing the willingness to get feedback or suggestions. Examples of newsletters below:

The newsletter above was created using www.smore.com. It’s a very easy tool although the free version has design and sharing limitations. This example would be perfect for school administration.

The newsletter above was created using Flipsnack, www.flipsnack.com. The format is a magazine-style book and perfect for sending to parents and staff to showcase student work. Flipsnack was very easy and user-friendly; it just took a few seconds to upload multiple PDFs and convert to a book. However there are too many limitations with the free version.
