Navigate 1 – Synchronous Vendor Market

Explore: Select one of the synchronous vendor applications listed in this lesson. Try-out the application.  Think about how you would use this application to host a live lesson with students.

What synchronous vendor application/tool did you select?
Although familiar with Blackboard and Adobe Connect, I chose to try a new resource, Big Blue Button. The clean & modern interface is appealing and seems easier than the others. The possibilities for instructional use are endless. Files can be uploaded and an interactive Whiteboard allows for active engagement and student participation.

Using the application, what did you experience using the synchronous learning tool? Was the task easy? Challenging? Did the process present problems?
Big Blue Button was very user-friendly & didn’t require a lot of tutorials to get going. It enables sharing of audio, slides, chat, video and desktop with students and also has a live whiteboard for presenters and groups. Another advantage of it was the option to share PDFs and Microsoft documents. Like other software, it features a chat window & the option to record the meetings. The only problem I encountered was that the free version only allows a recording to be stored for 7 days.
