In viewing Sherry Turkle’s video, Connected But Alone, the word relationship and meaning were repeated many times. Although the video had a hopeful tone, there’s a solitary side to connecting with others primarily through technology rather than in person.

How do we change our communicative patterns and personas as the result of technology? Because of the development, advancement and ease of technology, people have changed their communication patterns and personas–often to be less emotional and more instantaneous. Well thought-out and in-depth conversations take on a different meaning or are non-existent when relayed through quick texts or social media delivery. Not having a live conversation face-to-face or over the phone takes away from the interpersonal element of nurturing a relationship.
